Selling

OPENING TIMES
We offer free online valuations Monday to Sunday. We aim to reply to all enquiries within 24 hours. You contact us via the website or send us an email directly to enquiries@laingbrothers.com. You can also contact us on WhatsApp 07903160357. 

SMALL ITEMS
A majority of the items we sell are small items such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings.
All of our sales are fully catalogued with multiple images of each lot and live bidding online with every sale. 
 
LARGER ITEMS
As we only sell jewellery a majority of the items are small, however if this is not the case we can arrange in some circumstances a home visit for a valuation if it is a large private collection or larger item. Any enquires please email us photographs to enquiries@laingbrothers.com or WhatsApp us @ 07903160357
 
OUR CHARGES FOR SOLD LOTS
All lots have a flat fee of 12.5% + VAT.  We do not charge you if the lot does not sell. We can put it into our next auction. We do not charge you additional lotting fees if unsold like other auctions. If the item is unsold for 3 consecutive auctions we will post your items back to your address.

SELLER INVOICE

The sellers invoice shall be emailed to you the same day of the sale. Please allow up to 3 hours after the auction has finished to receive your email.


All lots are subject to a minimum charge of £5.00 per lot + VAT 

Private collections or higher value items negotiable commission rate

UNSOLD LOTS
No charge for unsold lots

PAYMENT
Payment to the vendor is made within five working days after payment from the buyer has cleared. Please allow up to 10 working days to receive bank transfer from your sales.

VALUATIONS
All valuations are made by our in house jewellery specialists.

CONSIGNMENTS

If we agree to sell your jewellery in our auction the following steps will be taken:

1. We will email you an inventory sheet for you to fill out. This will include item description, item condition, reserve price and estimate selling price. The recommended auction price will be negotiated prior to sending the items and can be subject to change once inspect in person. Items will not be sold unless the estimate price is mutually agreed before hand. 

2. We will provide you with a freepost label to print and stick on your package that you post to our office. 

3. You will receive a confirmation email when your items have arrived.

4. You will receive another email within 2-4 days after your items have been inspected confirming the condition, description and estimate price.

Buying

OPENING TIMES
We are open online 24/7. However from 9am to 5pm Monday to Sunday for calls and replying to emails.

 
VIEWING

All lots must be viewed online via our catalogue on our website, www.ukauctioneers.com or easyliveauction.com

BUYER INVOICE

The buyers invoice shall be emailed to you the same day of the sale. Please allow up to 3 hours after the auction has finished to receive your email.


CONDITION REPORTS
We will be pleased to give condition reports on any lot. You may ask as many questions as you like and we will be your “eyes and ears” to help enable you to fully satisfy yourselves before bidding.

BIDDING 
First time bidders will need to register with https://www.ukauctioneers.com/ or easyliveauctions.com. You will need to register a debit or credit card with them, you do not have to pay using this method.


LIVE ONLINE BIDDING
Live online bidding is now available for all of our auctions @ www.ukauctioneers.com

ABSENTEE / COMMISSION BIDDING
If you are unable to attend a sale you can leave a commission / absentee bid. The auctioneer will bid on your behalf and will purchase the lot as cheaply as possible allowing for the reserve price and other bids. Absentee bids can be left via email to enquiries@laingbrothers.com or directly through www.ukauctioneers.com 

TELEPHONE BIDDING
It is possible to arrange a bid via the telephone by prior arrangement with the office, we will ask you for a covering bid. In the event that we for any reason cannot reach you we will use this as your maximum absentee bid. You can make telephone bid request via our website at www.LaingBrothers.com. Please ensure all telephone bids by the day before the sale. We will email you confirmation that we have arranged these bids.


VAT
Lots hammer price do not include VAT. All lots are subject to hammer, plus auction commission plus VAT. 

PAYMENT & CLEARANCE
Payment is due immediately after the auction in pounds sterling.

Payment is to be made through the bidding platform you choose which will either be www.ukauctioneers.com 

We allow up to 5 working days maximum to make payment once an item is purchased. Bidding on a item is a legally binding contract, you will be subject to pay the amount in full and legal action will be taken if you do not.

BUYERS PREMIUM
A Buyers Premium of 12.5% + VAT is payable on all sold lots.

PLEASE NOTE: The Buyers Premium automatically increases to 25% + VAT after 5 working days following the sale for bidders who have not  ensured cleared funds have reached us. 
 
SALE RESULTS
These will be posted live during the sale live online on www.ukauctioneers.com. You will need to refresh the catalogue page to update the results.

If you are successful with your bidding we will email you an invoice shortly after the sale.

PACKING & SHIPPING

All items must be packaged and shipped we do not offer collection.

The shipping cost will be added to the invoice and included in your total.

We offer a flat fee of £9.99 for shipping. This includes tracking, insurance, packaging. Once payment is received items will be posted within 24 hours.
